Last night was our first night of camp. It was great! Bryce Parke and Will Esmoil are the coaches for camp. They showed the kids their HC, sweep single and front headlock. We have two more nights of camp (tonight and tomorrow night). Check previous posts to find the camp registration information if you’d still like to join!
Former Le Mars wrestler Tyler Carlson was guest coach this week. Tyler showed the team his HC and showed them how to run it to a Turk. #wegotbetter #bleedblue

Some new faces showed up last night to give wrestling a try-they did great and had fun!  Former J-Hawk and D3 National Qualifier for Cornell College, Jacob Sherzer was our guest coach. Jacob showed the team his High Crotch!  #JHawks #keepimproving

Josephine was 1 out of 448 wrestlers to make it to State. We’re beyond proud of her and excited to see her evolve in this sport.

Congrats to Josephine budederi for being the first girl to qualify for the State Tournament in J-Hawk history. She will compete next THursday and Friday at the Xtreme Arena in Coralville. Great job by all the yound ladies today while building the foundation for the girls wrestling program. There is a bright future ahead for the girls program. #family.
Today our girls wrestled at the Prairie Girls Title Tournament. The following girls placed!
Varsity: Sunsha 2nd, Amiyah 5th, Emma 6th, Gift 5th, Brooklyn 4th, Theresa 6th, Josephine 4th, Audrey 8th, Lauren 5th, Avery 5th
JV: Ornella 1st, Tamar 2nd, Thierrina 4th
One week until Regionals! Let’s keep pushing it girls!

We traveled to Anamosa Saturday for a tough tournament where our girls learned a lot and improved on their technique.

Out of 16 schools, Jefferson placed 6th as a TEAM! The following girls placed in the top 5.
3rd place: Josephine Budederi. 4th place: Lauren Schulte. 5th place: Sunsha Pierre, Amiyah Burdine and Emma York.
Tonight we hosted Libery and the J-Hawks dominated 48-24! We are so proud of each of our wrestlers. They are improving every day. We love seeing our girls support the boys, too!

 
The girls competed at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Winter Classic on December 17th. Nine young ladies placed in the Top 3
1st place: Mimi Kuundu. 2nd place: Emma York, Brooklyn Mills, Ornella Ntole, Avery Tisor
3rd place: Sunsha Pierre, Madison Larson, Gift Gonpue, Audrey Ties. 4th place: Josephine Budederi. 6th place: Lauren Schulte
Congrats to both the boys and girls varsity wrestling teams last night. The boys picked up their first win of the season 39-30 over Wahlert. The Girls varsity team got its first ever win in the history of the program against Wahlert at home last night by a score of 57-18. Great job by both teams last night. 

Congratulations to freshman Amiyah Burdine. Tonight she had the first Jefferson Girls Wrestling victory earned in the J-Hawk gym - a pin in :57.

These girls are now part of history. The first Girls Wrestling dual meet at Jefferson High School happened tonight. These girls are tough and will fight to the end.

November 18th at Bellevue 
The girls wrestled their first tournament at Bellevue-they did amazing!
The team placed 2nd overall and was a 1/2 point away from placing 1st!  
Josephine Budederi was the first girl to get the win with a pin for Jefferson!
